About the farmer and farm
This coffee comes from the Caldas department, part of Eje Cafetero — the Colombian Coffee Growing Axis and the country's first major coffee-producing region.
Tropical rainforest conditions, volcanic soil, and abundant rivers and streams make the area ideal for coffee growing.
Farms in Caldas are typically small, around 2 hectares on average, sitting at 1300–1950 meters above sea level.
Producers here who take particular care with quality are locally known as "juiciosos." They're hardworking and detail-oriented, constantly refining processing methods and experimenting with new varieties like Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia.
Processing: washed
The harvested cherries go through traditional fully washed processing.
The resulting coffee is sweet and chocolatey, with berries and citrus and medium acidity.
