About the farmer and farm
Kafele Kebede is a woman farmer from the Sidamo region. Her farm in Bona Zuria sits at 2,300 meters above sea level, one of the highest among all Lalisaa project farms.
She takes part in Sucafina Ethiopia's Lalisaa project, receiving agronomy support and training in cultivation, harvesting, and processing.
For extra shade and improved yields, Kafele grows her coffee alongside enset (false banana).
This lot uses the JARC 74110 and 74112 varieties, developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center.
Processing: natural
Cherries are selectively hand-picked to ensure optimal quality.
At intake, they're carefully sorted to remove damaged, underripe, and overripe fruit.
The selected cherries are laid out to dry on raised beds for 22–28 days, depending on the weather. They're turned regularly for even drying.
